Patient Transport

Some people may be eligible for patient transport which is a non-emergency service to get people to medical appointments. 

The service provides free transport to people who have medical conditions and may need support during a journey, people who find it difficult to walk, and parents or guardians of children being transported.

In Northumberland and across the North West, patient transport services are operated by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

The RVA have a community transport service which runs across Northumberland. 

The cost is £20 membership per annum and 60p per mile (including volunteer miles).

Vision Northumberland

This service is aimed at people who are blind or partially sighted. Volunteer drivers can take people to appointments, support groups, shopping and events.
