Patient transport services
South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides non-emergency patient transport service for patients registered with a GP in Sussex, and who have a medical reason for not being able to travel by another method.
Eligibility criteria applies, to ensure resources are focussed on those who need the service most.

Voluntary community cars
Volunteer Car – CT Sussex
CT Sussex has volunteer drivers who can take a passenger to the Princess Royal and Queen Victoria hospitals, as far as East Surrey for essential medical appointments, or to medical centres, GP surgeries and polyclinics.
Passengers need to book their journey. Costs of 50p per mile apply.
Patient and Community Transport – Royal Voluntary Service
Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles or specially-adapted vehicles. Clients can be taken to and from social visits, shopping trips, activities and appointments.
Havens Community Cars — Havens Community Hub
A volunteer car scheme for residents who are not easily able to access public transport. Drivers use their own vehicles.

The Liftshare website allows you to organise car sharing within your community, with a shared fuel charge.

Companion driving services
Driving Miss Daisy
Driving Miss Daisy is a national assisted transportation service.
Companion drivers are available and journeys can be individually tailored to meet your needs if you have mobility issues or special medical requirements.
Drivers will assist you in and out of your home, accompanying you on routine appointments, holidays, day trips and companionship at home.
