Buckinghamshire ShopMobility

Overview

ShopMobility UK is a nationwide network of centres which hire out mobility equipment to the public. This equipment is mainly manual wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters so people with restricted mobility can enjoy independence outdoors. These hire services are low cost or sometimes free to all ages of people looking to access shops and leisure facilities. 

Anyone of any age can use local ShopMobility services. ShopMobility is not only for elderly individuals or people with chronic disabilities, it provides support for those restricted by temporarily illness or injury. Maybe you have broken your leg or have strength problems after an operation? Do you have a child with disabilities who needs pushing in a wheelchair? Or you may simply find walking longer distances difficult. Whatever your need, each centre is ready to help you access your local shops and facilities with appropriate mobility equipment. 

Hire costs vary at each local ShopMobility Centre; however, typically they are very low or sometimes free.

Aylesbury

Aylesbury ShopMobility recommend you book their services in advance to avoid disappointment and ensure a parking space. Wheelchairs and scooters, loaned on short term hire, must be returned by 3.30pm on the day of hire. Long term hire is also available. Contact: 01296 336725

You must become a member of the ShopMobility scheme, before you can hire equipment.

To join you need to provide:

• your personal details
• proof of identity
• a photo, which can taken by staff if you need help

Other Outlets

Milton Keynes

Located at The Centre MK, Milton Keynes ShopMobility provide scooter hire for a morning or afternoon session at £2 per session. There is a range of wheelchairs available, free of charge. Pre booking is advised: 01908 398115

High Wycombe

High Wycombe ShopMobility is located in the Eden Shopping Centre. It is accessible from Desborough Road, adjacent to Café Nero on the ground floor of the Eden Shopping Centre, behind Next and behind the lifts to the purple parking zone of the Eden Car Park.

There is free daily hire of mobility scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs for those with limited mobility to use in the town centre. Manual wheelchairs can be hired overnight or longer term for a small charge. Staff and volunteers are available 7 days a week.

Buckingham

Buckingham ShopMobility is located at Cornwall’s Meadow Car Park, Buckingham, MK18 1RP.

Buckingham Shopmobility Service is a free scheme that allows anyone with a mobility problem, whether temporary or permanent, not just Blue Badge Holders, to get out and about in Buckingham town centre. There are allocated free parking spaces for ShopMobility users, next to the ShopMobility building. Mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs are available for hire.
